The NFL is being accused of wrongfully denying former football players their benefits. A class action lawsuit was filed Thursday against the league’s board of trustees and its commissioner.
10 former NFL stars claim the league has “a pattern of systemic bias” against NFL players who are disabled. They claim the benefits package has “illogical interpretations of its terms” and that the board was limiting payments or wrongfully denying players of their benefits.
The NFL has publicly responded. In a statement, the organization defended its benefits package and disability plan. The NFL said the league provides more than $330 million a year to players and their families.
