Early voting is underway in Georgia’s Senate runoff ahead of Election Day on Tuesday, Dec. 6. Incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock, D, who is being challenged by Republican Herschel Walker, has already cast his ballot.
“If you are in line voting, stay in line,” Warnock said in a Twitter video that showed him marching to the polls with a group of supporters. A photo later showed him waiting in line to vote in Fulton County.
With about a week to go, both candidates are on the attack bringing up the worst parts of their opponent’s past. Warnock said Walker is an unqualified liar.
“Herschel Walker lies about the basic facts of his life. He said he was in law enforcement. He was not. He said he worked for the FBI. He did not. He said he was valedictorian. He was not. He said he graduated from the UGA. He did not,” Warnock tweeted. He has said nearly the identical line in multiple campaign speeches.
Warnock is also running an ad showing voters reacting to Walker’s campaign speeches.
“What the hell is he talking about,” one voter asked after watching Walker talk about vampires and werewolves.
Walker has a new ad out accusing Warnock and his church of evicting poor tenants from their homes and alleging that Warnock abused his ex-wife.
“And Warnock thought no one was watching when his ex-wife called police to report his abuse,” the narrator said.
Warnock’s ex-wife then appears on screen telling police, “He’s a great actor.”
Walker is dealing with his own personal controversies, including allegations that he paid for multiple women’s abortions and reporting on tax filings showing his primary residence is in Texas.
Both candidates are also bringing in help. Former President Barack Obama will appear with Warnock on Thursday. Meanwhile, Walker has appeared with high profile national Republicans including Sens. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Georgia’s newly re-elected Governor Brian Kemp.
“It’s not just about this December. It’s gonna be about November two years from now, and the future of our country, ya’ll,” Kemp said.
