Elon Kanye gets kicked off of Twitter; the Pentagon unveils a new stealth bomber; and tensions between Disney and Florida begin to relax. These stories and more highlight the morning rundown Friday, Dec. 2, 2022.

Biden calls for DNC calendar shake up

A panel for the Democratic National Committee will be meeting today and tomorrow to discuss revamping its presidential nominating calendar. Ahead of their meeting, President Joe Biden has a list of recommendations to shake up the order of which states choose their candidate.

Iowa’s caucus has long led the process in choosing the party’s presidential candidate. New Hampshire has been the first state to hold a primary vote for 100 years. But President Biden asked to move South Carolina to the top spot. New Hampshire, Nevada, Georgia and Michigan would then follow.

Biden says his suggestions are to help propel the voice of black voters in the Democratic Party.

Kanye ‘Ye’ West suspended from Twitter

The Kanye West drama continues. The celebrity is back off Twitter after his account was suspended by Elon Musk overnight. Ye reportedly posted a picture of a swastika merged with the Star of David.

Elon Musk says Ye violated Twitter’s rule against inciting violence.

Ye is also out of a deal to buy the social media site Parler. The rapper was reportedly in talks to buy Parler back in October, but the social media platform confirmed those talks are over and have been since mid-November.

Biden open to talks with Putin

President Biden hasn’t spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin since the start of the war in Ukraine. But Biden has signaled he would be open to discussions if Russia is looking to end the war.

“I’m prepared to speak with Mr. Putin, if there is an interest in him deciding he is looking for a way to end the war, he hasn’t done that yet,” Biden said Thursday. “If that’s the case in consultation with my French and NATO friends, I’d be happy to sit down with Putin to see what he has in mind.”

Russian officials responded to the president’s remarks, saying Putin has always been open to negotiations, but the U.S. won’t honor Russia’s interests. Those interest include recognizing its annexation of portions of Ukraine and slowing the expansion of NATO around Russia.

Haitian gangs continue killing for power

For months, much of Haiti has been under the control of violent gangs who are fighting to control more territory and overthrow Haiti’s government. Overnight, another 12 Haitians were reportedly killed, and numerous homes were set on fire in a community close to the capitol.

Gangs have cut off oil supply to the island making it hard for Haitians to escape it’s country’s near collapse.

The U.S. is already preparing for a mass migration movement from Haiti, once residents there have the ability to flee.

Florida and Disney working out feud

The feud between the state of Florida and Disney World is reportedly being worked out by state-lawmakers. It comes at the same time Disney had a shake-up in leadership.

Former CEO Bob Chapek came out against a state bill that limited gender identity discussions in public schools. Florida responded by threatening to cut a special tax that the resort is allowed to charge its customers to help pay for the upkeep of its parks.

Now, with Robert Iger back as CEO, Florida is reportedly looking to do away with the repercussions it planned for Disney.

The Pentagon to unveil nuclear stealth bomber

The Pentagon has been building a nuclear stealth bomber in secret and is set to unveil the aircraft later today.

The B-21 Raider is the first new American bomber built in more than 30 years.

Almost every aspect of the program is classified. But the air force says it could be a last-resort to rising concerns over future conflict with China.

The unveiling comes the same week the Pentagon released a report predicting China will triple its nuclear arsenal by 2035.
