Letitia James: Democrats’ hero, Republicans’ headache

Full story

Letitia James, the top prosecutor in New York, is going after America’s most powerful men and organizations, including former President Donald Trump. James is beloved by the left and despised by the right for taking on cases that align with the liberal agenda.

“She comes across as unbalanced to me, but she’s just a trailblazer in trying to bring sanity to the criminal justice process here, really,” Fox News’ Laura Ingraham said.

James’ caseload includes big tech, the National Rifle Association, and former President Donald Trump.

The fraud case involving Trump targets the former president’s financial dealings. It’s a case Trump and his kids call a “witch hunt.”

“They are not actually concerned about following the law,” Eric Trump said on the Drinkin’ Bros Podcast. “They just want to get a guy that they don’t like, they think poses a threat to their party. They’re politicians.”

“I pursue cases based on evidence, based on facts and based on the analysis of the law and the politics stop at my door,” James said on The Grio.

Attorney General James is also leading an investigation into the NRA focused on corruption and misappropriation of funds claims.

“The rot runs deep,” James said. “No one is above the law. Not even one of the most powerful lobbying organizations in the country.”

James and 48 other attorneys general have also filed an antitrust lawsuit against Facebook.

“Facebook illegally maintains that monopoly power by deploying a buy-or-bury strategy that thwarts competition and harms both users and advertisers,” plaintiffs wrote in court documents.

James, a New Yorker born and raised, began her career as a public defender and quickly transitioned into politics. Her first seat in public office was as a New York city councilwoman, and she went on to become a public advocate, the next in line to the mayor.

When allegations of sexual misconduct by former Gov. Andrew Cuomo arose, James concluded Cuomo committed these offenses, and the governor resigned

Afterward, James launched a campaign to replace him. However, a week later, she dropped out of the race, decided to seek re-election for attorney general, and refocused on finishing the work she started.
