Third California mass shooting in 3 days
At least seven people were killed Monday in Half Moon Bay, California. The shootings took place at two mushroom farms. The shooter had reportedly worked at one of them. The suspect is 67 year old Zhao Chunli. He turned himself into police.
Hours after the incident, more gunfire rang out in Oakland, California, injuring eight people and killing one. And two days before, there was a mass shooting in Monterey park where the death toll has climbed to 11. That equals three mass shootings in three days.
Georgia election probe could go public
The seven-month investigation into whether former President Trump tried to illegally interfere in the 2020 election results in Georgia could be made public. A judge is set to hear arguments today. The special grand jury wants their report to be made public.
The file is expected to also include recommendations for the district attorney on possible criminal prosecution for the former president.
The investigation is one of several that present potential legal problems for Trump.
More Jan. 6 Oath Keepers found guilty
The second of three seditious conspiracy cases charged in connection to the Jan. 6 riots has followed suit from the first trial and has found members of the Oath Keepers guilty. Four members of the group were charged.
It comes after the trial of the Oath Keeper’s founder also being put away on the same charges back in November.
Prosecutors have brought criminal charges against more than 950 people, so far, following the events.
Senate hearing on Ticketmaster today
The Senate Judiciary Committee is holding a hearing to discuss Ticketmaster’s recent meltdown during a Taylor Swift pre-sale event. The focus will be whether there’s a lack of competition in the live-entertainment and ticketing industries and it will reexamine its anti-trust protections.
Top executives from Ticketmaster’s parent company Live Nation are set to testify.
Deaths linked to children’s cough syrup
More than 300 children in three countries have died from kidney issues associated with contaminated cough syrups. The world health organization is investigating, calling for immediate action.
While the U.S. is not one of the affected countries listed, it’s a scary alarm going off for parents. A toxic chemical found in antifreeze has been found in children’s over-the-counter cough medicine. It has killed hundreds of children under the age of 5. The manufacturers in question all come from overseas in India and Indonesia. Gambia, Indonesia, and Uzbekistan are the three countries reporting high deaths in children due to the contaminated cough syrups.
Suspicious vulture death at zoo
The Dallas Zoo is scrambling for answers after an endangered vulture died a suspicious death. The zoo is offering a $10,000 reward for information.
The vulture was a long time resident in Dallas. It first came to that zoo 30 years ago. The zoo’s security team is on high alert after a recent string of foul-play. A leopard was on the loose just two weeks ago, causing the zoo to shut down. The fence to her enclosure had been tampered with. Along with a monkey’s habitat. The zoo has added more security cameras to the premises.
