It’s been almost two years since the 2020 presidential election. Around the country, some just can’t seem to get over the fact the election wasn’t stolen and Donald Trump lost. Conspiracy theories about voter tabulation machines are even prompting one Nevada county to count every ballot by hand.
Last week, Nevada’s Supreme Court approved a plan for early counting of Nye County’s paper ballots. The hand tabulation will run in parallel to voter machine tabulations. It’s an unprecedented move, since normally ballots aren’t counted until election day.
But Nye County commissioners were worried they wouldn’t be able to meet the State’s certification deadline if they waited until election day to hand count ballots. One Nevada county took seven hours to hand count 317 ballots after the June primary. Nye County has 33,000 registered voters.
Nye County commissioners voted for the hand count after being bombarded with allegations voting machines changed results in 2020 — claims that have been proven false repeatedly.
Nevada isn’t the only state where election lies are still impacting current affairs. In an interview with Jon Stewart, Arizona’s Attorney General said his office is still investigating cases of alleged election tampering.
“Donald Trump lost Arizona. Period. I’ve said that since the beginning,” Arizona AG Mark Brnovich told Stewart. “There have been isolated incidents thus far that we’ve identified and are prosecuting. We still have some active investigations going on, but people can draw their own conclusions.”
The Arizona AG’s office is currently investigating 20 cases of possible election tampering from 2020 out of nearly four million ballots cast.
