The Israeli Defense Force ramped up their operations on Thursday, Nov. 7, in northern Gaza and ordered more evacuations. The move is fueling fears among Palestinians that they will never be able to return home.
Israel said it was forced to clear out Jabaila and another nearby town on Wednesday, Nov. 6, to fight off Hamas militants regrouping in the region.
Meanwhile, more evacuations were underway on Thursday, Nov. 7. At least 10 people were reportedly killed and several others injured in an Israeli airstrike on a school used to house displaced families in northern Gaza.
Israel’s military moves come as it denies reports that northern Gazans wouldn’t be allowed to return to their homes. IDF officials said the information was incorrect and added it doesn’t align with the military’s “objectives and values.”
Humanitarian groups have accused Israel of restricting aid into the north, which they allege is a war crime.
The IDF refuted those claims and said on Thursday, Nov. 7 that 300 aid trucks from the United Arab Emirates will be sent into Gaza through crossing in the north and south.
