Seniors paying for Medicare Part B plans will face higher premiums in 2025

Full story

Seniors enrolled in Medicare Part B will see higher premiums in 2025. Part B plans cover doctor’s appointments and services, outpatient care, medical supplies and preventative services.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that enrollees will pay about 6% more for their Part B plan, increasing from $174.70 in 2024 to $185 in 2025.

The annual deductible for Part B beneficiaries will also rise by $17, from $240 in 2024 to $257 in 2025.

“The increase in the 2025 Part B standard premium and deductible is mainly due to projected price changes and assumed utilization increases that are consistent with historical experience,” CMS said.

According to CMS, a beneficiary’s Part B monthly premium is determined by their income. That means wealthier Americans will also pay an income-related monthly adjustment amount (IRMAA).

This adjustment affects approximately 8% of individuals with Medicare Part B.
