Taylor Swift reacts to girls stabbed to death in UK at Swift-themed dance class

Full story

Taylor Swift is responding to a tragedy in the U.K. after three young girls died from a stabbing attack at a dance studio on Monday, July 29. The girls were attending a Taylor Swift-themed dance and yoga class when an intruder entered the studio wielding a knife. The victims were six, seven, and nine years old.

Eight more children and two adults remain in the hospital, most in critical condition. Local police believe the injured adults were “bravely trying to protect the children being attacked.”

After learning that the children were taking a class dancing to her music, Taylor Swift posted to her Instagram story, “The horror of yesterday’s attack in Southport is washing over me continuously and I’m just completely in shock. The loss of life and innocence, and the horrendous trauma inflicted on everyone who was there, the families, and first responders. These were just little kids at a dance class. I am at a complete loss for how to ever convey my sympathies to these families.”

A 17-year-old suspect was taken into custody minutes after the rampage. As of Tuesday morning, no charges have been officially brought, although police said they are not looking for other suspects.
