Top business leaders believe Vice President Kamala Harris will win the election and become the next president of the United States. That’s what they told CNBC in a recent survey.
The survey found that 55% of chief financial officers say that Harris will win the presidential election. A bit lower, 31% believe former President Donald Trump will win. Lastly, 14% remain unsure.
It’s a reversal from a similar survey that CNBC conducted when Joe Biden was at the top of the Democratic ticket. In that case, 58% felt Trump would win.
The survey is a sample of 31 chief financial officers at big organizations. The results came out after the recent debate between Harris and Trump, hosted by ABC News.
The same CFOs believe Trump would be better handling inflation and the economy, by a 55% to 17% margin over Harris. Other key issues include interest rates, tax policy and regulations.
Taking a larger look at politics in Washington gives a varied picture. The CNBC survey found that about three quarters of respondents believe Congress will remain divided, with Democrats maintaining control of the Senate and Republicans in charge of the House.
