A Ukrainian soldier, shot five times, risked everything to secure his rescue after being ambushed by Russian troops. The soldier managed to crawl away and hide within a tree line in the Kharkiv Oblast. Spotting a reconnaissance drone overhead and unsure if it was friend or foe, he flashed his military ID. Fortunately, it was a Ukrainian drone and friendly forces that evacuated him.
The 47th Mechanized Brigade captured the experience on video and shared it on the brigade’s official Telegram channel.
The soldier, identified as Dmytro, is seen in the video urgently signaling for help. He points to his tourniquet and a watch, indicating that time is running out, then pulls out his military ID to confirm his identity.
Once it was safe, medics from the 47th Brigade began the rescue operation using a Bradley infantry fighting vehicle.
The brigade expressed its gratitude, stating, “We thank the aerial scouts for their vigilance, the crew for their maneuverability and the medics for saving lives.”
Dmytro is currently in the hospital recovering from his injuries. His quick thinking not only ensured his survival but also highlighted the essential coordination between ground forces and aerial support in mo warfare.
Ukrainian leaders — fully aware of Russia’s superior numbers and firepower — maintain that mastering innovation is key to winning the war.
