A New York Supreme Court judge has dismissed a lawsuit by New York City against Exxon, BP and Shell regarding climate change claims. The lawsuit alleged that the companies misled citizens about the environmental effects of their products.
Justice Anar Patel stated that the city could not claim citizens were aware of the effects while also claiming they were misled. The city accused Big Oil of falsely advertising their commitment to clean energy, but no evidence of “greenwashing” was found.
