Senators from both parties expressed being “appalled” by security failures leading to the assassination attempt against Former President Donald Trump and demanded more information from the Department of Homeland Security. Senator Richard Blumenthal stated the public would be “shocked, astonished and appalled” by the report on Secret Service failures during the assassination attempt.
Homeland Security Committee Chairman Gary Peters noted that an interim report will identify specific errors made and addressed accountability within the Secret Service. The group also said they wanted more information to be released, and would be working towards that goal.
