Migrants are leaving the U.S. voluntarily due to President-elect Donald Trump’s pledge for mass deportations, according to immigration attorney Rolando Vasquez. Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico Juan Ramón de la Fuente announced Mexico is expanding support to Latin American nations as part of a regional migratory response.

Mexico will accept non-Mexican deportees, affecting Cuban and Venezuelan migrants who previously avoided deportation due to their countries’ refusal to accept returnees from the U.S.

The Mexican government allocated over $108 million in 2024 for aid projects in over 20 countries, primarily those serving as points of origin for migrants.
