House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., is currently pushing for the passage of the controversial SAVE Act, a bill that would require voters to show proof of citizenship at the polls. Democrats have pledged to oppose it. Former President Donald Trump has urged congressional Republicans to pursue a government shutdown if they can’t secure passage of this legislation, which he says is critical for election security.
In the above video, Straight Arrow News contributor Star Parker echoes Trump’s call for the bill to become law. Parker argues that with the Biden-Harris administration allowing millions of migrants into the U.S., safeguarding the integrity of the American electoral system is more crucial than ever.

The following is an excerpt from the above video:
The SAVE Act takes necessary steps to fix this problem and affirms current law by requiring proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections. It requires states to establish a program to remove non-citizens from their existing voter rolls and gives the states immediate, no-cost access to federal databases with citizenship information to do so.
Even as they decry “threats to democracy,” Democrats are opposing efforts to ensure public confidence in our elections. As civil rights advocates have done in the past, Republicans have turned to the courts and urged them to allow states to require proof of citizenship and an equal number of poll workers and election inspectors. They have won some victories in the courts and are recruiting thousands of volunteers to help ensure voter integrity throughout the expanded voting periods in many battleground states.
Protecting the integrity of America’s electoral system is critical to ensuring the freedom and dignity of all Americans, including those in our most distressed communities.
