With a defeated Democratic Party, Trump now holds power alongside a Republican-controlled Senate and likely a Republican-controlled House.

The 2024 election turned out, I think, to be much more historic than anybody in the elite news media expected. Not only did President Trump win the Electoral College, which everyone had conceded was possible, but he won a majority of the American people’s vote, which I think almost no one on the Left expected. That’s really important, because when you win a majority, you really have a kind of moral authority that you don’t get if you only have a plurality and win [sic] by the Electoral College.
So, Trump enters this new administration much stronger than he was in 2016 and, of course, he’s also stronger because he survived two impeachment efforts, a whole series of legal attacks, an assassination attempt. If you think about it, this is a guy who has earned his way in, whether you’re for or against him. It’s a pretty astonishing example of sheer endurance.
But he did more than just win his race. The momentum he developed gave the Republicans control of the U.S. Senate, which is a big shift and an important shift.
